19 During this period, when there was no king in Israel, a certain Levite from the remote part of the hill country of Ephraim had a mistress[a] from Bethlehem in Judah. But she was unfaithful to him and returned home to her father in Bethlehem in Judah, and was away from the Levite for four months.
